New Ryanair regulations from 15-01-2018

Added: 15 January 2018

Ryanair, a leading company at Alicante-Elche airport, will be charging from 5 January 2018 5 euros from passengers who want to take their  handbag on the plane. The fee must be paid when you buy the ticket with the first boarding fee. The rest of the passengers will be able to carry only a small bag, and the suitcase will have to be transported at no additional cost in the hold of the aircraft.

According to Ryanair, many passengers used services that allowed free transport of two bags in the cabin. Taking into account the high occupancy level (95% in December), there was not enough space in cabin compartments for so many suitcases, which caused delays in shipments and flights.

To encourage more passengers to travel with registered luggage and reduce hand luggage, Ryanair has made changes for all of its flights; allowable registered baggage weight increased from 15 kg to 20 kg for all suitcases.

The basic rate of checked baggage up to 20 kg has been reduced from 35 € to 25 €. Only priority passengers, like Plus, Flexi Plus & Family Plus will travel with two hand luggages in the cabin: normal, 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm and weighing up to 10 kg, and small - 35 cm x 20 cm x 20 cm. Other travellers will be able to take only one small baggage, and the other, the larger one will be picked up at the gate and taken free in the luggage compartment.

"Priority boarding" can be bought for only 5 euros at the time of booking or add it later for 6 euros to two hours (on Ryanair.com) and half an hour (in Ryanair application) before the estimated time of flight.
