Basic monthly expenses

Before you come to Spain you will certainly want to ask What is the cost of living in Spain?

The prices of food in Spain are similar to the prices of food in Polish supermarkets or grocery shops. The basic monthly expenses such as accommodation, food, transport, clothing, shoes, education and entertainment may differ depending on the region.

Generally, the living expenses in large Spanish cities (Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao) are higher than those in the country.

It should be noted that in 2013 the minimum salary in Spain was 21,51 euros a day or 645,30 euros a months.

The monthly salary depends on different factors such as age, education, post, social benefits offered by the employer and many more.

For a reasonable-standard life in Spain, you need about 1500 euros a month. This is an amount applying to one person and including such expenses as food, accommodation, bills (electricity, phone, water, gas), transport, clothing and entertainment. The prices presented here are approximate and may change every year. The cost of maintaining one child is additional 300 euros a month.

The average monthly cost of a rented flat is 400 euros. The rent in a one-bedroom apartment (60m2) is 250 to 350 euros a month. In a two-bedroom or a three-bedroom apartment (from 60 to 90 m2) the rent ranges from 550 to 800 euros a month. For a bigger flat, with a size over 90m2, you have to pay 800 euros a month.
