Cabo Roig

Cabo Roig is a popular resort located in the area known as the Orihuela Costa in the south of Spain in Costa Blanca. Cabo Roig is popular with tourists, people having properties here and those who come to live here. It is situated between La Zenia in the north and Compoamor in the south.

Beaches

Cabo Roig is known for its clean, blue flag beaches which are popular among tourists from Northern Europe and among people from the neighbouring regions of Murcia, who come here for weekends. Cabo Roig is busiest during the summer months and it is quietest in the winter. The best time to visit Cabo Roig is May and October when it is warm but not too hot.

Near the resident area there are a few beaches you can visit, such as Playa Cala Capitan or Playa Cala Caleta. They are clean and safe for children. Also within walking distance are the beaches of La Zenia, Playa Flamenca and Campoamor. Make sure to visit the historic Cabo Roig watchtower.

The marina

Cabo Roig Marina is one of the best marinas in the area. It is located in an attractive area. It has over two hundred mooring spaces. There are also restaurants and a few other well-equipped facilities. The 16th century watchtower is an eye-catching construction around which Cabo Roig was built. At present it is a part of a restaurant complex which overlooks the recently modernised marina.

It is estimated that around two million euros was spent on the renovation of what is now one of the most desirable mooring places in Costa Blanca. The marina is located by the well-known Cala Caleta beach which rises above the wharf.

What to do and what to see in Cabo Roig

Below is a list of things that we recommend doing in Cabo Roig and the surrounding area.

We especially focus on things to do for families with children because that is the majority of tourists who visit Cabo Roig. Of course the beaches and the aqua park are the obvious attractions of the area.

For those who want to go walking on holidays, Cabo Roig offers many cliffs that you can admire. It is an ideal form of spending an evening in the summer time, when you will welcome a cool breeze after a hot day. The walk offers some picturesque views of the sea and the coast and there are a few interesting coves to visit on the way.

On a bright day you can see La Manga in the distance. Sometimes there is a cool breeze for which the walkers wait impatiently on hot days.

To the south of Cabo Roig are Campoamor, Pilar de la Horadada, San Pedro del Pinatar and La Manga. All these tourist resorts have fantastic blue flag beaches, restaurants and shops.

In La Manga there is a famous golf course- La Manga del Club, which we strongly recommend.

The weather in Cabo Roig is fantastic with over 300 sunny days a year.

The easiest way to get here is from the Murcia airport. The journey takes only 20 minutes from Murcia and 40 minutes from the Alicante airport.
